Roaring 20’s

Elisabeth Vogler

Drama

90 minutes

Roaring 20’s single-take premise takes us through the streets of Paris and briefly into the lives of its inhabitants as it moves us seamlessly from one conversation to the next.

Filmed during one hazy summer evening, the transition through the ensemble of characters flows organically and largely avoids any feeling of gimmick. With the backdrop of the current pandemic very much present, these twenty-something Parisians converse poetically about their city, their lovers, their passions while a sense of existentialism always lingers close by.

It’s a beautifully experimental film and while some characters are certainly more memorable, the lady in the wedding dress and the two friends who delve into their sexual lives stand out particularly, Roaring 20’s is an entertaining and largely memorable experience.
