Neil Maskell gives a terrifying performance in this week’s Friday Night Film pick, the ultra-violent revenge thriller Bull.

Reminiscent of Paddy Constantine’s relentless vengeance in Shane Meadows’s Dead Man’s Shoes, Maskell, starring as the titular Bull, is hellbent on terrorizing his old haunts after a mysterious 10-year absence.

His former gangland buddies are the target for his odyssey of violence as he seeks to reunite with his son, while traumatic flashbacks to a burning caravan give some indication of Bull’s motivations but ultimately this a stripped back affair, as Maskell moves from one brutal kill to the next.
